Keen absolutely deserves a spot on your list of coffee bars in Utrecht. Thanks to its central location, you’ll almost always pass by while exploring the city.
At Keen, they offer a wide range of specialty coffee (more than 20 varieties!) and are always happy to help you find something that matches your personal taste preferences. Their tasting boxes also allow you to brew excellent specialty coffee at home.
Note: Don’t forget to bring your own reusable cup if you’re grabbing coffee to go. Otherwise, you’ll pay €1 for a reusable hardcup.

Fufu Coffee Studio
Hooghiemstraplein 51B
We regularly grab coffee from our neighbors at Fufu when going for a walk, so they definitely deserve a place on this list of Utrecht coffee spots.
At Fufu (named after the adorable cat), you’ll find experimental specialty drinks and coffees with unique fruity flavor notes. It’s also a peaceful place to sit just outside the city center, with Griftpark right around the corner. During the warmer months, it’s the perfect combination.

Dagger Coffee
Zijdebalenstraat 2, Europalaan 93 & 500
Dagger is a staple in Utrecht’s coffee scene.
The coffee experts at Dagger (led by Dagmar Geerlings) take you into the world of coffee with fantastic barista coffee, courses, and freshly roasted beans for home use.
The cozy café on Zijdebalenstraat is absolutely worth the short detour. At Europalaan, you’ll also find two Dagger locations where laptops are welcome.
Tip: Their cinnamon buns are also incredibly good.

Ohoj
Rijnlaan 27
The best coffee detour you’ll ever make is towards Rijnlaan, where you’ll unexpectedly stumble upon Ohoj.
A small coffee bar and roastery where you can enjoy excellent coffee and beans for home in the morning. The owner puts an incredible amount of knowledge and care into the craft — and you can taste it.
Ohoj closes after 1:00 PM, and weekends get busy quickly, so plan your visit wisely.
Tip: Try the espresso tonic while you’re there.
Cupp Coffee
Nobelstraat 239, Kanaalweg 59
At Cupp, you’ll enjoy delicious specialty coffee. Their tea selection is also seriously impressive.
At their new location on Kanaalweg, you can enjoy your drink with a view over the canal or join one of their barista courses. (They even offer a course specifically for Sage machines.)

Wakuli
Twijnstraat 1, Nobelstraat 131
If you’re looking to try something different, Wakuli is the place to go for cold brew, nitro cold brew, and recently even cold brew spritz.
You’ll recognize the yellow and blue storefronts on Nobelstraat and Twijnstraat. Wakuli is also a great spot for delicious, ethically sourced specialty coffee beans and Barista-Essentials tools.

Museum Café Utrecht University
Lange Nieuwstraat 106
The café inside Utrecht’s brand-new University Museum is a hidden gem among experienced café lovers in Utrecht.
Hidden in the courtyard behind the impressive building on Lange Nieuwstraat, this café offers both indoor and outdoor seating with views over the botanical garden and greenhouse.
Definitely recommended if you enjoy your coffee together with a beautiful view.

't Koffieboontje
Oudegracht 92
Another lovely little coffee bar that absolutely deserves a place on the list of the best coffee spots in Utrecht.
In 2014, it suddenly appeared in a historic building on Oudegracht. Since then, it has become impossible to imagine this beautiful location without it.
At ’t Koffieboontje, craftsmanship and attention to detail are combined with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Their pastries are also well worth trying.

Koffie Leute Brauhaus
Westerkade 30
At Westerkade near Vaartsche Rijn station, you’ll find Koffie Leute Brauhaus — a coffee bar with a unique atmosphere.
You can come here not only for coffee, but also for vinyl and cassette music from local labels, exactly what you’d expect from a cool coffee spot in a student city.
Perfect for grabbing a coffee before catching a movie at Louis Hartlooper.

Hinkelman
Burgemeester Reigerstraat 63
Hinkelman is the coffee spot for you if you’re not only craving coffee, but also feeling hungry.
You’ll find Hinkelman in eastern Utrecht on Burgemeester Reigerstraat, just a short walk from the city center.
Grab a coffee to go and enjoy it in the nearby Wilhelminapark. And don’t forget to check out their little shop filled with local products.
